How to pack a hat for the holidays

Packing a sun hat for your holidays can be tricky, as you want to ensure it doesn't get totally smushed or damaged in transit. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to pack a sun hat for the holidays

Choose Wisely: Opt for a hat made from flexible materials that can withstand some pressure without losing its shape. Avoid rigid brims or delicate decorations that can easily get damaged. Hats with crushable technology will save you a lot of worry.

Clean the Hat: Before packing, make sure the hat is clean and free of any dust or debris. Use a soft brush or a lint roller to remove any surface dirt.

Fill the Crown: To help the hat retain its shape and make the most of your packing space stuff the crown with lightweight clothing or soft items like socks or underwear. This will prevent the crown from collapsing and losing its form.

Support the Brim: Place the hat upside down in your suitcase. Surround the brim with soft clothes or tissue paper to provide extra support and protection. Avoid using anything too heavy that could bend or damage the brim.

Cover the Hat: If you have the space and luggage allowance consider using a hat box or a hard case specifically designed for hats. If not, use a plastic bag or a large, clean plastic shower cap to cover the hat and protect it from any dirt or moisture.

Pack Strategically: Place the hat in the center of your suitcase, surrounded by soft clothing like T-shirts, pajamas, or other non-wrinkle items. Make sure to avoid placing heavy items on top of the hat that could potentially crush it.

Secure the Hat: Once everything is packed, close the suitcase and secure it with straps or locks to prevent any movement during transit.

Carry-On Option: If you're worried about your hat getting damaged in checked luggage, consider carrying it with you as a carry-on item. Keep it on your lap or in the overhead compartment during the flight.

Have a happy holiday in the sun!
